Skye Bound Outdoor Journal Brand
brief
For our independent project, students were asked to respond to a project of our own making, inspired by one of eight topics related to current industry trends and interests. I chose to respond to the topic ‘The Future of Brand Storytelling’, exploring how design can be used to re-imagine how brands communicate their values and stories in an era of fragmented media and constantly shifting consumer expectations.
Solution
Skye Bound is a location-based stationery brand specialising in the design and crafting of structured activity journals. They aim to encourage customers to connect with themselves and the outdoors through the reflective practice of journalling, as a way to combat the harmful over-digitisation of modern life. They offer different ranges of pocket-sized journals tailored to specific outdoor activities including rock climbing and foraging, alongside fully customisable tweed journal covers equipped with practical pockets, pen loops, and fastenings. All of their products are available to purchase individually or as part of an activity starter kit, and are supplied in high-quality recyclable packaging. Each journal is hand-crafted using natural and sustainable materials, inspired by the beautiful landscapes and rich mythology of the Isle of Skye.
